Heirloom quality: The panel is solid 1/2″ thick birch plywood. All the black lines are laser burned into the wood. There is an all natural shellac finish. The movable star is made of bloodwood. These calendars work whether you’re on the traditional Julian calendar or the new Gregorian calendar, since the days are the same on both calendars. Christmas for example is December 25 on both calendars, but December 25 on the Julian calendar does not line up with December 25 on the Gregorian calendar. December 25 on the Julian calendar falls on Jan. 7 on the Gregorian calendar. And December 25 on the Gregorian calendar falls on December 12 on the Julian calendar.
