Kentucky Coffee Tree is native to Oklahoma, where it typically grows in rich woods or along streams. Females produce showy, greenish-white flowers followed by reddish-brown pods up to 10 long which ripen in October. Native Americans and early settlers used the seeds as a coffee substitute..
